BOAT DEK PREMIUM EVA FOAM GENERAL CLEANING

1. Pre-Wetting: Thoroughly wet the area to be cleaned, ensuring it stays wet throughout the cleaning process to avoid the cleaner drying on the surface.

Cleaning Process:

1. Starting Point: Begin at the bow and work towards the aft.
2. Cleaning Sections:
   • Port Side Bow: Wash the port side bow, then rinse thoroughly with fresh or salt water, ensuring all soapy water is flushed off the boat.
   • Side Decks: Clean and rinse the side decks, directing the soapy water off the aft.
   • Starboard Side Bow: Repeat the process on the starboard side bow, following the same rinsing procedure.
   • Starboard Side Decks: Clean and rinse the starboard side decks.
   • Aft Cockpit: Clean the aft cockpit and rinse off both sides and the swim platform.
   • Swim Platform: Finish by cleaning and rinsing the swim platform, if present.

Important Tips:

• Continuous Wetting: Always wash as much area as you can while keeping the deck wet. Do not allow the soap to dry on the deck.
• Rinsing: Follow the soapy water flow with fresh or salt water to ensure all residue is removed, especially in areas where water might pool, such as the swim platform or aft stairs.
• Salt Water Use: If using salt water, draw it from below the surface to avoid contaminants like diesel or petrol. Salt water acts as a great abrasive and works well, Finish with a fresh water rinse.

Prolonged exposure to sunlight and water can diminish the lifespan of your deck, so taking precautions will help ensure their durability over time.

DOME-IN NOTES

Maximize the Performance of Boat Dek Premium EVA Foam Stick-In Mats

Treat Boat Dek Premium EVA Foam Dome-In product akin to snap-in carpet. While these mats are engineered to withstand wet conditions during use or cleaning, it's essential to avoid storing them in water or on a continuously wet deck. For optimal performance, store the mats snapped in place over a dry, clean deck and under cover when not in use. If your boat will be stored uncovered and exposed to the elements, remove the mats and store them in a head compartment or another storage area onboard. This proactive approach ensures the longevity and reliability of your Dome-In Mats.

Tools Needed:

Razor knife  
Masking tape  
Roller (laminate style) available at home centers  
Ammonia-based window cleaner 

Important

Do not install Boat Dek if the temperature is below 60 degrees. The surface needs to be completely clean and free of any residues (oil, wax, etc.). >

The floor surface also needs to be completely dry in order for Boat Dek to adhere properly. Do not pull or stretch pieces while installing.

1. Prepare your Boat

Completely wash and dry the entire area where Boat Dek installation will occur.

2. Unpack

Unpack and layout out all pieces on a flat surface to allow them to relax and return to flat after being packed for shipping. At this time you should also inventory the pieces to make sure you have everything to complete the job and that nothing has been damaged in shipping. 

3. Alignment

Lay all pieces into their proper area for installation and check for fit and alignment. Once you are happy with the fit it is time to install. We suggest beginning at either the front or back and working towards the other direction.

4. Installation 1

Score the backing paper on the first piece to be installed in the middle of the mat using your razor knife. Be careful not to cut too deep.

5. Installation 2

Align the first piece to be installed and hold in place -  tape it down if the piece is large with a few pieces of masking tape. It is a good idea to have the next piece with you while aligning this piece to ensure proper alignment. Once you have the piece aligned and taped in place you should lift one side about half way back and begin peeling the backing paper from the cut you made earlier. Let the piece slowly roll down into position being careful not to tug or distort its shape.

6. Installation 3

Once the piece is in place and backing paper fully removed press down on the entire surface to ensure bond.

Now take your roller and roll in a back and forth motion from the center of the piece, working your way to the outside. Apply even pressure.

If you get a small bubble that will not work itself out you can poke a hole in the mat with a pin or the point of your razor knife and push the air out through the hole. The hole will be invisible once it is pressed down.

Be sure to pay special attention to all the edges of the Boat Dek, making sure to press firmly all the way around.

The pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) on the back of Boat Dek requires 15psi to activate.

7. Installation 4

Continue with the rest of the areas to be covered with mats using the same method, and ensuring alignment of each piece before sticking them down.

1. Preparation

Wash and dry the boat thoroughly

Open package, remove and inspect the Boat Dek. Lay all mats on a flat surface to relax and flatten out after being packaged. Make sure there are no missing pieces. 

2.  Place & Align

Lay all the mats in the proper location on the cockpit floor. Take care to align all the edges and the pattern lines foe one continuous look. 

3. Tape Down

Using the masking tape, tape all the pieces into place to temporarily hold them while installing the studs into the deck of the boat

4. First Drill

Your new Boat Dek Dome-In series mats utilizes a unique drill guide snap cap. These snaps have a pilot or guide hole to allow for perfect alignment every time. Working from the front of the boat to the rear, use the 1/16" or 7/64" drill bit. Drill your first pilot hole through the snap itself into the deck of the boat. 

5. Second Drill

Lift the corner or edge of the Boat Dek and drill the final hole for the stud with the 1/8" drill bit.

6. Sealant

Apply a small amount of sealer to the hole

7. Tighten

Using the screwdriver, tighten the snap stud through the washer the washer in the hole and snap the mat in.

8. Repeat 

Repeat steps 4-7 for all remaining domes being careful to make sure the Boat Dek stay aligned and are laying flat before drilling each hole.
